John P. (Jay) Sawyer is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) professional and Executive Vice President of Flagship Harbor Advisors. Jay began his career in the financial services industry in 1998 with a goal of helping individuals, families and business owners grow and protect their wealth through comprehensive financial planning. Jay also focuses a significant amount of his time on firm management and development and fulfills the role of Chief Compliance Officer which includes providing leadership and coaching to the firm’s strong network of independent advisors alongside CEO and Founder David Kaufman.

Jay believes that an personalized and independent perspective, coupled with professional research and advice is critical to helping clients pursue financial well-being. He works with clients to develop long-term relationships built on trust. This begins with seeking to understand his clients’ goals and objectives, and learning about their needs and lifestyle priorities before recommending specific strategies. As a CFP ® he follows a strict code of ethics in developing, implementing and monitoring each client’s financial plan and investment strategy.

In addition to working closely with his clients to help ensure their financial prosperity, Jay plays an integral role in overseeing day-to-day firm operations, compliance and strategic direction. He holds his General Securities Representative (Series 7), General Securities Sales Supervisor (Series 9 and Series 10), General Securities Principal (Series 24), Municipal Fund Securities Principal (Series 51), and Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination (Series 63) registrations with LPL Financial. He also holds his Life, Accident and Health Insurance license.

Jay graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a BA in Economics. He earned his Certificate in Financial Planning from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.

Jay resides in Canton, MA with his wife Sharyn and their two sons, Jameson and Liam. He spends much of his free time in the Canton community coaching football and basketball (occasionally baseball and soccer). He is an avid Celtics and Patriots fan, enjoys all types of music, and has a passion for learning all he can understand about planet Earth and the cosmos by reading non-fiction and watching shows on the Science and History channels.
